Welcome to Promo Drop

Alex BurnettBy Alex Burnett·August 19, 2026·3 min read

Hi, I'm Alex, and I built Promo Drop. Before I write anything else on this blog, I wanted to explain what it is, why it exists, and what you can expect to find here.

Promo Drop started with a small, annoying problem. I kept buying things on Whop, courses, trading communities, the odd tool, and I kept getting the nagging feeling that I was paying more than I needed to. Discount codes existed, but they were scattered across Discord servers, videos, and old forum posts, and half the ones I found were dead. So I built the tool I wanted: a free extension that checks for working promo codes on the Whop product you are looking at, and offers cashback on eligible products when no code exists. That is the product, and it is genuinely free.

What this blog is

This is not a coupon blog. There are enough of those, and most of them are thin, recycled, and written to be found by a search engine rather than read by a person. I have no interest in adding to that pile.

What I am interested in is the world these products live in: the creator economy, online business, paid communities, trading groups, dropshipping, reselling, the whole sprawling "make money online" space. It is a world full of genuine opportunity and genuine nonsense, often on the same page, and very little of what is written about it is honest, careful, or properly sourced.

So that is what I am going to try to do here. Some of it will be practical. Some of it will be investigative. Some of it will just be genuinely interesting. All of it will be researched properly and cited, and I will tell you plainly when the evidence is thin or when I am not sure. I have a history degree and a low tolerance for hand-waving, so if I make a claim, I will show you where it comes from.

Why I care

Two things drive Promo Drop, and they come from the same place. The first is helping people pay less. The second is helping people not get fleeced. Both are really the same problem wearing different clothes: information asymmetry. In almost every online transaction, the person selling knows far more than the person buying, about the real price, the real odds, and the real value. Promo Drop the tool closes a little of that gap on price. This blog is an attempt to close some of the rest.

If there is something in this world you have always wanted a straight, well-researched answer to, tell me. Otherwise, welcome. I'm glad you're here.
